Dan Covert is a Brooklyn-based artist who works in a graphic language of organic and decisive forms. His work explores structuring and ordering these abstract shapes so they appear composed, yet spontaneous. Covert touches on this dichotomy, mentioning that "part of me wants to open up and be more loose in my work, while the other half wants to strip things down. Either path takes confidence that I didn't have just a few years back. The process of editing a piece down to its essence, while searching for a composition or a shape thats is unique enough to hold someone's attention, is very tough. That exercise led me to paint 'Idol'.”
