More Styling Tips from Our Storytellers
We’re back with more looks for 2020’s most popular past times: picnics in the park, home movie marathons, and Zoom interviews. (Check out our first Styling Tips feature here)
Inspired by brands like Modern Citizen, Banks Journal, and Taylor and Tessier, these outfits are styled to fit seamlessly into your everyday, including versatile pieces to support the rest of your wardrobe. For these looks, we consulted Shay (Chelsea Market), Norberto (Legacy West), and Marcus (South Congress), who have a combined experience of 32 years in retail.
If in-store shopping isn’t your style, you can ask for outfit suggestions, like these, in the messaging app on our website. Our Storytellers would love to chat!
Picnic in Central Park
Shay: “Whether you are grabbing a margarita to-go to meet up with your hinge date or meeting up with your besties at Central Park for a picnic, you need to come ready to slay. This playful Chloe Mini Skirt from Onia x WeWoreWhat paired with the Alani Relaxed V Neck Tee from Modern Citizen will have you feeling comfortable and ready to seize the day.”
Norberto: “Start your morning with a trip to the farmers market and then heading out to a picnic in Central Park for some R&R with friends. You’ll be looking amazing and feeling fresh in this head-to-toe Banks Journal outfit; the Ty Williams Being Shirt pairs great with their Big Bear Walkshorts.”
Marcus: “The Utility Plisse Romper from UpWest paired with white Atoms sneakers makes a very casual-cool statement. The Daily Edited textured cross body will hold all of your everyday needs like sunnies to keep the golden hour sun out of your eyes.”
At-home Movie Marathon
Shay: “‘Movie marathon’ is code word for ‘potato day!’ There are two essentials needed to have a successful movie day: snacks (extra buttery popcorn please) and comfy clothes. These Victory Leggings by Combo Boxing will make you feel so cozy. Pair it with their Energy Muscle Crop top for a look that will allow you to feel free, comfy, and not guilty about that extra handful of popcorn.”
Norberto: “I like this pairing because it's super comfortable and great for hanging out at home, binge watching your favorite show. I chose the brand, Goodlife, for their comfort and their subtle fun colors will keep you looking fresh. I especially love the seafoam Micro Terry Sweatshorts with the Slub Scallop Crew in white with the Micro Terry Zip Hoody. Get ready to enjoy hours of fun and day-long comfort.”
Marcus: “Cozy movie marathons at home were meant for rom-coms and skin care! The Everyday Short from Tribe Alive and UpWest’s Ribbed Layering Tank are the perfect match for a movie night, pair them with Go-To’s Transformazing Mask to give you a happy glow. And don’t forget your favorite bottle of wine!”
A Zoom Interview
Shay: “Thanks, Zoom, for making interviewing just a tad less nerve racking. A statement top will put you in the headspace to land the job of your dreams. Pair the black Gabrielle Blouse by Modern Citizen that will have you feeling classy, powerful, and stylish with my favorite skirt, Modern Citizen’s midnight blue Brandy Slip Skirt to complete the look. When you look good, you feel good.”
Norberto: “This Zoom interview is going to be a breeze! Dress to impress with this Sandra Blouse in a beautiful dark olive while pairing it with a Taylor and Tessier necklace. This gives a spark of fun while also projecting an outgoing and fun personality. Complete the look with DSTL boyfriend jeans and get that job in style!”
Marcus: “The West Button Down makes a powerful and ‘in charge’ statement. Pair it with some great High Rise Skinny jeans from DSTLD and throw on the Moto Hoops from SOKO to show your radiant confidence and nail this Zoom interview!”
