Everything to Know about CBD

If you’ve been wondering about CBD, we’ve got you covered. CBD has steadily developed as less of a mystery and more as a part of everyday life. Short for cannabidiol (can-na-bi-di-ol), CBD is a cannabinoid found most prominently in hemp, that has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-anxiety properties without any psychoactive effects. In partnership with our CBD brands, we’ve tackled some of the most commonly asked questions (spoiler alert: you can't get high from it) and curated our top picks for the season.

Approaching the end of year holidays, CBD is something to keep in mind for gifts as well as some much needed TLC for yourself. Each brand we cover in this feature, and carry in our stores, tackles different aspects of wellness and even uses diverse parts of hemp to achieve unique sensations.

If you’re interested in checking out any of our curated brands or have more questions about CBD, you can message one of our Storytellers in the chat box on our site to schedule a time to explore all of your CBD needs in person.

Read on to learn more about CBD, which brands are right for you, and journey with us as we demystify cannabidiol.

CBD Speed Round

Can I get high from CBD? Nope! CBD is different from THC, the chemical compound which gets you high.

But, don’t they both come from the same plant? They come from the same plant family but not the same plant. Cannabis is the family and marijuana and hemp are members of that family but they each slightly different, producing their own chemical compounds. Marijuana makes a lot of THC and a tiny bit of CBD and hemp makes a lot of CBD and a tiny bit of THC.

What is CBD used for? CBD interacts with receptors in your brain to help you chillll outttt and reduce stress while also entering your bloodstream and promoting homeostasis, A.K.A equilibrium. Think: relax-mode for your whole body.

Are there different types of CBD? There are! Here is a quick explanation of the three types:

Full Spectrum - This method of harvesting CBD uses all of the good-for-you compounds in hemp. It includes fun, bonus compounds like fatty acids, terpenes, and vitamin E which lend itself to a more full bodied experience.

Broad Spectrum - This is basically Middle of the Road CBD. Its compounds were picked specifically for these products and creates a not-too-heavy but not-too-light dose.

Isolate - This type of CBD is stripped down to just a cannabidiol compound without any additional cannabinoids or plant compounds naturally occurring in hemp.
