A Megaphone of Gratitude for Our Dads

Dear Dads, Grandpas, Uncles, and Father-Figures,

Thank you for being a steadfast constant in our life. Whether it’s teaching us how to drive or showing us how to make a campfire, we are glad that we can turn to you as a thoughtful how-to guide for most of the things we encounter in life. Your advice is just a phone call away when we need it and the values you gave us in our youth are things we will always carry. You’ve provided space to grow and discover who we are while still letting us know that you are always there when we need to feel the comfort of being known.

And to the people who have stepped into these shoes for those whose fathers were absent, thank you for using your life to show us love and remind us of our worth. You’ve acted in many capacities as role models, teachers, and counselors, shaping us into who we are today. You should be celebrated on Father’s Day, too.

Here’s to all of the dads, in their many forms and facets- may you always catch the biggest fish, never tire of World War II documentaries, and tune into the radio when your favorite Eagles song is playing.

Love,

Neighborhood Goods

Thanks for always breaking it down on the dance floor and always being the best dance partner out there (don't tell mom) but even a better dad. Will always save a dance for you.

- Shay

My Dad is one of the best people I know. He is easygoing, kind, and also an amazing cook. He encouraged me to be strong and self sufficient and has always been there to support me and my mom (and the Houston Astros). He is an incredibly hard worker and inspiration in my career. Love you, Dad!

- Tess

My dad taught me to create joy in all things, even times when your tire is flat & you’re running late. I’m so grateful for that!

- Lauren

Lessons from dad: start roadtrips before the sun is up, always try new foods, remember to lean on logic when you are thinking through big and small decisions, and complete every task to the best of your ability. Whether it’s making a meal from the vegetables in your garden or telling me tales of your rascal childhood, you show your love to the people around you by spending time with them and sharing a good meal. I really love that about you- Happy Dad’s Day!

- Devin

My father taught me fierce loyalty, the value of hard work, how to cook, and throw a party! He taught himself to cook when we were young and our mother went back to school.  He turned us all into foodies.  He gave us the world of possibilities and encouraged us to explore while always providing the steadfast comfort that we could come home.  He is our rock and is happiest when surrounded by his family.  Pictured here, with my mother and five of their seven grandchildren.

- Katrina

“My father taught me the importance of honesty, hard work, and not cutting corners,  Happy Father’s Day, Appa!”

- Vijay

My dad taught me how to be resilient and tough, but at the same time, very thoughtful, caring, and selfless. He's always said that "making friends is his business", and he truly makes everyone he meets feel like the most important person in the room.

-Bella

My dad always keeps me smiling and laughing. Also he is a singing god and great bbq-er!

- Arlette

My dad, Ralph, is most famously known for being the life of the party. He never meets a stranger and greets everyone equally, which helped me early on learn how to be a good friend and make new ones. He's taught me so much, in particular the efforts of hard work, sticking to your plan, and how to grill (still working on that last one).

- Tucker

My dad taught us to love old sports movies, appreciate the little things, and most importantly how to make a great french toast. He’s as sweet as they come, especially to his three daughters. I’ve always wanted to be just like him.

- Kat

My dad is truly larger than life. He’s one of those rare gems that can walk down the street and become friends with anyone he bumps into. I’m eternally grateful to be able to share our love for the outdoors and music together. My whole life, he’s encouraged me to dream big and live life the way I want to live it. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better best friend. Love you, dad!

- Miekala

I was a flower girl, and I was really scared so he was giving me a pep talk. Happy Father’s Day!

- Val

You are the most dedicated and supportive dad a girl could ask for! Thank you for teaching and molding me with your most admirable qualities; outspoken, stubborn, and ocd :) Love you to the moon and back!
